Family, friends, and pets
I'm really introverted, so I tend to spend a lot of my free time alone. But there's a lot of people and animals in my life who I love very dearly and greatly enjoy talking to. When I was younger, I focused a lot on success in school and work, but recently I've realized that my relationship to the people around me is the most important part of my life. So, here are a few photos of me with the earthly beings I love the most.
Media
When I'm not reading something academic for the sake of learning about the world, I'm often watching a movie, playing a game, listening to music, or reading a novel. When it comes to movies, I really love Quentin Tarantino, Wes Anderson, and Christopher Nolan. My favorite movies are
Monty Python and the Holy Grail,
Moonrise Kingdom,
Django: Unchained, and
Tenet. In terms of video games, I mostly play on my Switch. So, my favorites are
Hollow Knight,
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild and
Tears of the Kingdom, and—more recently—a little bit of
Fortnite.
For music, I listen to a lot of indie pop, folk, and funk/R&B/disco. But I also listen to some rock, jazz, electronic, and hip hop. I spend a
lot of time listening to music, especially whole albums at a time, so I try to listen pretty broadly. My favorite artists are Beirut, Vulfpeck, Peach Pit, and Paul Simon/Simon & Garfunkel. In contrast to my music consumption, I don't read all that much fiction. When I do, I read classics. I love Ernest Hemingway and John Steinbeck, especially
The Sun Also Rises,
For Whom the Bell Tolls,
Cannery Row, and
East of Eden.

Exercise and nature
I ran cross-country in high school because of my teammates and the coach (shoutout Wendy!). I then took a pretty long break from exercising consistently, doing it mainly through college PE courses. But now I'm running 2-3 times a week again, and I've also started bouldering! I'm really enjoying climbing and it's a lot of fun to see myself get stronger (I haven't done anything that requires strength before). It's all been really fun! Turns out exercise is important to feeling good.
Outside of exercise for the sake of exercise, I also just love being outside, especially in nature (you can probably tell from the website banners). So, I spend a lot of time going on walks and some time going hiking. Because there really isn't anything prettier than a sunset or sunrise over some mountains.
